Content

  • • Pick one mission and stick to it. You don't need to put max effort into everything to grow as a creator.
  • Engage with your community regularly. Community is your lifeblood as a creator. Respond in the comments. Make sure they feel heard.
  • Your personal brand is everything. Do these two exercises Qetsiyah Jacobson recommends to start creating your personal brand:
  • List out everything about yourself (location, jobs, hobbies, etc). Find interest in that. Don't try to be someone else.
  • List out aspiring points vs. relatable points. You need to be equal parts aspiring and relatable. What makes you relatable to the average person? What makes you stand out from the average person?

Brand Deals

Pitching:

1. R - Relevant: Make your pitch relevant to a campaign that the brand is currently running or has run in the past.

2. O - Organic: Showcase organic work that demonstrates how your audience has an affinity for that brand.

3. P - Proof: Show how you've helped other brands achieves these results.

4. E - Easy to Execute: Pitch the brand exactly what content you're going to provide them and what rights that brand will have to your content.

  • Include a media kit even if you don't think you have enough followers. Metrics, past work, testimonials
  • Send 20 cold outreach emails per day if you’re not getting brand deals. Just do it.
  • Ask for a higher rate. You’re likely undercharging, ask for more. Start high. You can always come down.

Negotiating:

  • • Think about exclusivity, usage rights and licensing to maximize your income per deal. These can 2x-10x your rates.
  • Exclusivity - if the brand wants exclusivity over what products you can promote, you can charge a significant fee for that.
  • Usage rights - if the brand wants to repurpose your content for their own ads and channels, charge 2-3x your content creation fee
  • Licensing - charge for the rights to use your personal likeness.

Revenue Streams:

  • • Sell digital products. Whether it's a course, template, or ebook, think about what you can package together and sell.
  • Newsletter - you own your list. Sponsorships are a natural way to monetize a newsletter.
  • Consulting - if you have an area of expertise, package it up into a consulting offering.
  • Communities - paid communities can be a great way to monetize a highly engaged audience.
  • Affiliate revenue - promote other people’s products and take a cut of the sale.
